Preventative Dentistry

Here at Canungra Dental, we take care of all your general dentistry needs and believe that prevention is the key to a healthy smile. We encourage all of our patients to become regular dental attenders to ensure they maintain optimal dental health. Regular dental attendance usually every 6 months for the following routine treatments will ensure you maintain a healthy mouth.

  • General Dental Check up
  • Scaling & Fluoride Treatment
  • Diagnostic X-rays to check the roots and in-between teeth for decay or abnormality
  • Soft Tissue Checks
  • Jaw Joint Check
  • Gum Health

Fillings

Fillings are required to replace missing tooth structure due to decay or breakage of the tooth. In the last decade, fillings or restorations as we call them in the dental field, have come a long way. Gone are the days of having amalgam or metal fillings in your mouth. At Canungra Dental we only use composite (white fillings) the most commonly used material giving a hard-wearing, durable and fantastic appearance. Being tooth coloured these fillings are matched to the existing enamel and can barely be seen in the mouth. They provide the perfect bond to enamel and are easily repaired if chipped or broken.

Root Canals

Root canal treatment is required when there is damage or disease to the pulp of the tooth. The nerves and pulp require removal and a root filling is placed in order to keep the tooth and avoid having to have an extraction. Root canal treatment has become quicker and easier to treat with modern equipment and less daunting for the patient.

At Canungra Dental we offer the latest technology in root canal treatment making the procedure and experience comfortable for the patient.

If you experience pain/swelling or a broken tooth call us immediately for an appointment as the earlier you act on a dental problem the higher the chance of avoiding a root canal or a dental extraction.

Gum Disease

Periodontal disease more commonly called gum disease is a slow progressive condition that many patients do not realise they have until the advanced stages. It is important to consider the following signs and visit us immediately if you feel you have gum problems;
  • Bleeding gums
  • Swollen gums
  • Bad breath
  • Metallic taste
  • The build up of yellow plaque at the gum line
  • Loose adult teeth
Extensive periodontal cleaning and a maintenance program can help with gum disease. The earlier it is diagnosed, the easier the treatment.

Wisdom Teeth

Wisdom teeth are the third molars that appear in the teenage or young adult years. Many people suffer from lack of space when these teeth start to come through causing pain, discomfort, food pack, difficulty in cleaning and often swelling and infection.

Canungra Dental has quality general dentistry and likes to see patients as soon as they develop any symptoms from their wisdom teeth. A special x-ray will show the position of these teeth and their condition within the mouth. From this x-ray we can determine the best course of treatment for you.

Emergency Dental Care

Dental emergencies can occur at any time and range from broken teeth, Abscesses (swelling), trauma, soft tissue damage or decay in teeth that have not been addressed. At Canungra Dental we aim to see patients with emergencies on the same day. Calling early in the day can ensure we can fit you into our daily schedule or if your emergency occurs out of hours, be sure to book online for the following day.
